Tapio Pyysalo

Tapio Pyysalo is a career diplomat on leave from the Finnish Foreign Service. He has gained experience in several foreign and domestic postings with a particular focus on security policy and multilateral diplomacy. His most recent posting was as a Political Counsellor in New York, where he worked on UN Security Council affairs. Earlier in his career, Tapio was posted to Brussels to work on EU and NATO security policy, and to Geneva to work on WTO trade policy. He also worked briefly on trade promotion for the British High Commission in Nairobi. He has held several positions in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki, dealing with security policy, bilateral relations and development policy. Tapio holds a master’s degree in economics from Aalto University School of Business, and previously had a career in management consulting before joining the Finnish Foreign Service, and most recently the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats.
